Nestled in the beautiful Lockyer Valley, QLD, we are dedicated to helping people improve balance, strength, and overall well-being through the Tai Chi for Health programs. Developed by Dr. Paul Lam in collaboration with Tai Chi and medical experts, these programs are safe, enjoyable, and easy to learn, making them accessible to all ages and abilities.
Using the Stepwise Progressive Teaching Method, Tai Chi becomes an approachable and rewarding practice. A great starting point is Sun-style Tai Chi, known for its upright posture, gentle follow-step movements, and adaptability for physical limitations. This style is particularly beneficial for those with chronic health conditions, such as arthritis, but everyone can enjoy Tai Chi’s positive effects on both body and mind.
I first discovered Tai Chi for Health in 2015. As a nurse, I assumed my joint and back pain were just part of the job—until I started practicing Tai Chi. Soon, I noticed less pain, better balance, and an overall sense of well-being.
As a Registered Nurse in community and aged care, I’ve witnessed firsthand how chronic pain affects people physically, mentally, and socially. Inspired by my own experience, I became a board-certified instructor in Tai Chi for Arthritis and Falls Prevention in 2018. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of helping many participants regain confidence, improve mobility, and build meaningful connections.
Beyond its well-documented health benefits, Tai Chi has also transformed my horse riding, deepening my connection with my horse. The focus on balance, breath control, and mindful movement has helped me ride with greater awareness and harmony. Tai Chi’s principles translate beautifully into equestrian activities, enhancing posture, relaxation, and communication between horse and rider.
At Serenity Tai Chi and Fitness, we are passionate about sharing this gentle, safe, and research-backed practice—supported by over 30 scientific studies—to help people improve their health and well-being.
I look forward to welcoming you to a class and sharing the benefits of Tai Chi with you!
